Our Services

Yarrawonga Health provides the following services:

  • Acute medical inpatient unit comprising of 19 medical and surgical beds.
  • Outpatient services provided by visiting medical specialists who specialize in general medicine and surgery, gynaecology, urology, orthopaedics and ophthalmology.
  • Accident & Emergency Department. The Accident & Emergency Department offers 24 hour emergency care. The Department is serviced by general practitioners from local medical clinics (Yarrawonga Medical Clinic & Yarrawonga Denis Medical Group) who are on-call at all times. Non-urgent cases are referred to either of the clinics. As this is not a funded Emergency Department, there will be a charge by the Medical Officer at the time of the visit.
  • Haemodialysis (regular and holidaying clients) – this unit can cater up to 11 permanent clients plus one holiday client per week.
  • Operating Theatre (minor surgery, colonoscopies, gastroscopies, cystoscopies). Yarrawonga and our surrounding region is fortunate to have an operating service which provides a range of minor surgical and endoscopy procedures to meet the current requirements of the local community.

Our Theatre caters for approximately 600 cases per year, with five specialist surgeons from the Wangaratta and Albury regions covering –

  • General Surgery,
  • Endoscopy,
  • Orthopaedic,
  • Urology
  • Gynaecology.

You are assured that each specialist personally provides the procedural needs for each case, which is comforting knowledge for the patient. Yarrawonga Health is fortunate to also have the services of three local General Practitioner Anaesthetists to support this service, a Sterilizing Technician and a team of highly trained and devoted nursing staff which covers the demands of the Day Stay Unit, Theatre and Sterilizing Department. Yarrawonga Health is also fortunate to have modern up-to-date equipment ensuring optimal treatment and quality patient care.

  • Maternity services including shared ante-natal care, lactation and parenting support and domiciliary post-natal services.
  • Allawah Special Care Hostel which provides dementia-specific services - 30 beds.
  • Warrina Hostel - 28 individual low care units.
  • Karana - 30 high care beds including one respite bed.
  • District Nursing Services.

The District Nursing Service is an integral part of the total health care delivery system, providing nursing care and other support to people in their home environment.

The main objective of our service is to provide professional care management and nursing care of the highest standard whilst promoting independence.

District Nursing Staff work closely with each client and their carers, General Practitioners and Ancillary services, to provide directly coordinated care to the home.

Any person is eligible to receive District Nursing Care subject to an initial assessment by District Nurse, or may be referred by Medical Officers, local and other hospitals, other District Nursing Services or patients and their families.

This service provides trained nurses to attend to client’s needs with support as necessary, for their carers.

  • Community Health services including podiatry, physiotherapy, generalist counselling, welfare casework and supported accommodation services, dietetics, speech pathology, occupational therapy, community health nursing.
  • Medical Imaging - Medical Imaging Services, including ultrasound and computed tomography (CT) scans are available.
  • Pharmacy.
  • Palliative Care.
