Construction

The Yarrawonga Health Operating Theatre and Main Entrance Redevelopment Project has started.

This major project has been in the planning phase for many months and is expected to be completed by mid 2025.

This is a long awaited and exciting redevelopment for Yarrawonga Health and will comprise the build of a new operating theatre, post-operative recovery area and sterilising department replacing the existing theatre and sterilising department and a new main entrance to the Acute unit and Urgent Care Centre. The current operating theatre, recovery and sterilising department will continue to be used throughout the project so there will be no disruption to surgical services.

A temporary main entrance to the Acute Unit, Dialysis and Urgent Care Centre is being constructed on Lynch Street to enable safe access for patients and visitors. This will remain in place for the duration of the redevelopment and will include wayfinding signage enabling people to access the health service safely.

Keep an eye on this page, and on our Yarrawonga Health Facebook page, for future updates.

  • Media Release | WORK BEGINS ON THE YARRAWONGA HEALTH OPERATING THEATRE & MAIN ENTRANCE REDEVELOPMENT

Capital works are now commencing on the Yarrawonga Health $10.8 million Operating Theatre and Main Entrance Redevelopment Project.

This major project has been in the planning phase for many months and is expected to be completed by early 2025.

Robin Haberecht Interim CEO Yarrawonga Health says “This project will deliver a fully functioning contemporary operating theatre, recovery and sterilising department, which will provide the opportunity to increase surgical capacity at Yarrawonga Health.”

“We also acknowledge that our current entrance to the acute patient areas of the health service is not sufficient and this redevelopment will also bring a much-improved main entrance for people accessing those services.

“This is a significant investment in our community and will certainly enhance our health service. The redevelopment will ensure more community members can access appropriate care and treatment closer to home, and it will support a solid foundation for future growth and expansion for Yarrawonga Health” she said.

Yarrawonga Health Board Chair David Rokesky explains the benefits of the redevelopment are to the community as a whole.

“Yarrawonga Health is an integral part of our vibrant community” he said.

“As the redevelopment progresses, we understand there may be minor impacts to local residents of Lynch Street, with increased traffic, parking and construction noise. While this is unavoidable we are working closely with the builders, Southern Cross Developments, to ensure impact to our neighbours is kept to a minimum.”
