YH Graduate Nurse Q&A with Madison Brown

YH Graduate Nurse Q&A with Madison Brown

Monday, 20 July 2020

Madison Brown, Graduate Registered Nurse completing rotations in Acute

1. Why did you decide to complete your graduate year at Yarrawonga Health?

I wanted to do my graduate year at a rural hospital as I’ve always lived in the country. Yarrawonga was the perfect place for my grad year, with opportunities to increase my skills and also plenty of ongoing training for nurses. Yarrawonga Health also has a wide variety of speciality areas which we are given the option to branch into, such as theatre, dialysis, district nursing and urgent care.

2. What has been a highlight of your grad year so far?

The highlight of my grad year so far has been being able to put into use all the skills I’ve spent years building. I’ve enjoyed being able to use critical thinking and creating plans for patients as well. I enjoy working along allied health professionals and doctors to make sure that patients have better health outcomes.

3. Where do you hope your nursing career will take you in the future?

I would like to start off by completing the First Line Emergency Care course, which will allow me to work in the UCC at Yarrawonga Health. But, nursing has so many avenues that it can take you, so the possibilities are endless. Yarrawonga Health are committed to helping their nurses to expand their skills, so I’m excited to see what I will be able to do.
