Volunteers - the Heart of our Community

Tuesday, 1 June 2021

On Wednesday May 19, Volunteers in our Community were acknowledged with a thankyou afternoon tea sponsored by ClubMulwala during National Volunteers Week.  MHA Care, Yarrawonga Neighbourhood (YNH) House and Yarrawonga Health (YH) partnered to deliver the celebration which honoured the selfless contribution that volunteers continue to provide each and every day. The afternoon tea was held at ClubMulwala’s Endeavour room and was well attended by many volunteers from multiple organisations and community groups throughout the community.  CEO Elaine Mallows from Yarrawonga Health, MHA Care Senior Finance Officer, Ian Brimblecombe and Community Programs Manager Deb Cooper from YNH formally acknowledged the volunteers speaking about the impact that volunteers make to patients, residents, community groups and programs.

Volunteers week acknowledges the generosity and dedication of volunteers and the work they do within their communities. The 2021 theme for National Volunteer Week is Recognise. Reconnect. Reimagine. Which acknowledges that is time to recognise and celebrate the volunteers within our community. Reconnect with what is important by giving our time to help others and ourselves and Reimagine how we can better support volunteers and the communities they help.

The local annual celebration invited all volunteers from MHA Care, YNH and YH to unite and celebrate the important contribution they make to people’s lives and the invaluable work they do within the Yarrawonga Mulwala Community. “Today is about recognising the selfless and ongoing contribution that volunteers put into our community and the incredible impact that has on the people and programs in our community. COVID-19 pandemic put a hold on many volunteering activities over 2020 and it is great to be able to thank our volunteers who have returned to programs that support our community and its people and the region.” Said Jodie New, Yarrawonga Health, Community Engagement Manager.
