Yarrawonga Health ‘Pay it Forward Appeal’ brightening Christmas.

Friday, 26 November 2021

2021 has been another tough year for most in our community. As Christmas rolls around again, Yarrawonga Health (YH) is committed to providing extra cheer for those in our community who are doing it especially tough.  Each year, YH works closely with other local community groups to provide food and gifts to the disadvantaged members of our community, and are hopeful that 2021 will be no exception.  Community members are encouraged to register for assistance and will be provided with a hamper of Christmas food items and age-appropriate gifts for children 16 years and under.

“Christmas is a time of year that should be filled with joy and love, not stress” says Kirsty Paul, Operational Director of Community Services at Yarrawonga Health. “Our Pay it Forward appeal aims to reduce the stress experienced by those most in need in our community by providing support in the way of a food hamper and children’s gifts. The response from the community is always positive, by both those giving and receiving.” Kirsty Said.

There will be Christmas trees to accept donations at Judd’s Yarrawonga, O’Meara Kennedy Real Estate, Yarrawonga Manufactured Housing, Goodstart Yarrawonga, Mulwala Preschool, and Country Buddies where children’s presents, vouchers and donations will be accepted.  Yarrawonga Health, Club Mulwala, Woolworths, IgniteLife Church, the Lions club and Yarrawonga P-12 Community Workshop, Moira Foodshare are providing assistance with the donation and distribution of Christmas food hampers for those who register for assistance.

With all groups working together, support is made accessible for local families at a financially stressful time of year. “The look on the faces of these community members when they are handed a hamper and presents is priceless and what Christmas in a community such as Yarrawonga is all about” says Kirsty.

Anyone wishing to donate to this cause in anyway, please contact Yarrawonga Health Community Services, or leave your donation at one of the drop-off points.

Community members can register for assistance by contacting Yarrawonga Health Community Services on 5743 8111. Registrations will close on the 18th December.
