Yarrawonga Health Teams: Excellence in Action during the Pandemic

Yarrawonga Health Teams: Excellence in Action during the Pandemic

Wednesday, 27 January 2021

The Coronavirus or COVID 19 has presented many challenges across the globe and without a doubt locally across the region.   Yarrawonga’s local health service - Yarrawonga Health has worked extremely hard to adapt to the many transformations set and delivered by State and Federal governments, and is humbled and incredibly proud of the way the community has undoubtedly supported them by getting tested when unwell.

Since the beginning of the Pandemic in Australia - Yarrawonga Health has completed over 3000 Covid-19 tests thanks to the people of Yarrawonga Mulwala, and surrounding communities doing the right thing and getting tested when feeling any symptoms common with COVID 19.

Yarrawonga Health acknowledges the community for their support and commitment in keeping the community safe and open this period.  Since December 31st alone, Yarrawonga Health conducted over 469 swabs through the drive-through clinic and Urgent Care Centre.

CEO Elaine Mallows commented “the community has played an integral part in the way we can continue to live our lives in this region today and in protecting our health service and our teams.  Everyone has taken the necessary steps as and when it has been needed and together we continue to keep not only those we love safe, but also in keeping our community and our health service protected, open and accessible.

Since November last year Yarrawonga Health Aged Care teams have also been participating in the State-wide Aged Care Asymptomatic Testing initiative, with staff tested every 4 weeks, without symptoms in an effort to protect the most vulnerable in our community, those residents living in Aged Care.

“Our employees are always thinking ahead and routinely go above and beyond to ensure that our patients, residents and our community receive both the very best care and an outstanding patient experience. This collaboration and commitment of our entire teams — from doctors, nurses, administration staff, to those in environmental services and in Infection prevention & control - is the lifeblood of our organisation and it makes me extremely proud and grateful to be a part of it.”   CEO Elaine Mallows said.

Yarrawonga Health board and executive would like to publicly recognise the skilled, dedicated and compassionate employees who have worked day in, day out to test thousands of community members these past challenging months.

Covid-19 testing continues to be a critical tool in the fight against Coronavirus. The challenges in relation to the Pandemic are set to continue for a long time, with a new normal set out for 2021.  Testing is completed locally by Yarrawonga Health simply by ringing 03 57438111.
